Austin McGrath

Optician, Campus Outreach Coordinator, Urban Cultural Studies

I am graduating in a week and a half and couldn't be more excited to begin my career. I have a strong history in organizational work, project management, and the creation of protocols that have allowed success in adverse situations. I am currently open to a variety of fields, but have been looking into College Admissions, College Advising, or continuing my current career path in the field of optics and insurance.

Over the course of career during my undergraduate work, I have primarily worked for LensCrafterrs, where I worked as an EyeCare Advisor for 6months, training in optical software operation during pre-assessment for charting patient information before seeing the doctor, and helping them choose proper frames and lenses depending on budget, lifestyle, and prescription. After 6 months I was promoted to EyeCare Supervisor, where I continued those responsibilities, and also took on a managerial role opening and closing the store, tracking sales metrics, and handling customer service issues. This position also introduced new responsibilities in the Doctors office, tracking and calculating their spiff allocation, entereing their exam goals with the company 10% increase margin, and handling all medical device recalls.

During my time as the Campus Outreach Coordinator for the Chicago Feminist Film Festival, I was able to focus on data management, interpersonal communication, and scheduling. This allowed for maximum efficiency with organizaing classroom visits, distribution of event information to relevant classes and instructors, and keeping the team up to date.
