Find creative talent from Columbia College Chicago
For the past 9 years, Kaitlyn Svenningsen has engrossed herself in the music industry. Hailing from Minnesota, Kaitlyn got her start working with local bands. She worked merchandise tables at shows and spread the word about up and coming bands through social networking sites. Kaitlyn used her knowledge of the growing music scene in Minnesota to take it upon herself to work with street teams of local artists to help promote upcoming events and new releases. Kaitlyn Svenningsen is currently a senior Live and Performing Arts Management major at Columbia College Chicago. Since starting school at Columbia, Kaitlyn has engrossed herself in the Chicago and Columbia music community. Among other projects, Kaitlyn has had significant involvement with Columbia's Manifest Urban Arts Festival, acting in the past as student volunteer coordinator and this year acting as Event Producer for the lot located on Wabash and Balbo. Kaitlyn is also closely tied to Columbia's Student Programming board, serving as general board member for the past year. Other opportunities at Columbia have allowed Kaitlyn to become involved with programming various campus performances spaces such as HAUS located in the 623 S Wabash Quincy Wong Center. As a part of the Club Management Practicum course, Kaitlyn has been booking events every other Thursday to highlight local Chicago and Columbia talent. Kaitlyn focuses her time on everything live events. She is currently interning as assistant talent buyer at both Uncommon Ground locations where she helps to book 30+ acts per week. Additionally, she has interned at Chicago record labels, served as panel moderator for SPB's Music Industry Conference, and even spent time abroad in London where she served as event producer for various non-profit events to benefit St John Ambulance. Most recently Kaitlyn is acting as band manager for Metropalis and Ajani, two Columbia student bands formed through the Recording and Performance Ensemble course in the music department. Metropalis recently made their debut at South By South West in Austin, TX and Ajani will compete at this year's Biggest Mouth competition at Metro.
