The Privileged

by Marjorie Crouse

Take a person and lock them up in an institution. How is this person any different from the person outside of the institution? People are free, in a sense, to go and do what they want but yet they stay linked to their computers, televisions, and cellphones. That same behavior links Hemmingway to the only reality she knows and understands. The magazine has become her reality and she is disconnected enough to take drastic measures to hang on to that reality.
