Ting is available for freelance and employment
Ting Shen is a photojournalist based in Chicago, IL. Born to a small family in Taiwan, he came to the United States at an early age with his parents. This experience established his strong emotional attachment to American culture. At the same time, growing up in a Taiwanese family with traditional Chinese values gave him a parallel cultural understanding and a unique perspective.
With influence from American contemporary painter Edward Hopper and photographer Robert Frank, he is fascinated with the beauty of the rural parts of North America, the scene of remnants from the great westward expansion, and the true sprit of the American Dream.
Beside his photojournalism work while interning with the Chicago Sun-Times and as a photo editor the Columbia Chronicle campus newspaper, his personal work focuses on documenting human interaction with surrounding natural environments, as well as portraits that capture the personalities of his subjects. He is currently majoring BA in Photojournalism at Columbia College Chicago.
