Judith is available for employment and collaboration
A Chicago native, Judith Ruiz-Branch graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Latino Studies. During her time there, she honed her journalism skills by appearing as a reporter and anchor on the weekly addition of Newsbeat, the on-campus news station. Judith, along with a team of student journalists also created and launched the community news website, Austintalks.org.
Judith went on to intern for CLTV's "Garrard McClendon Live Show." At the end of her 3 month internship, she occasionally filled in as executive producer for the show.
After graduating, Judith went on to intern for WGN-TV as a writer for the Midday Show. Her supervisors quickly recognized her tenacious work ethic and fast learning skills and promoted her to join the news team as a freelance writer after just 4 months. She now enjoys writing and editing video for various newscasts at WGN-TV.
Judith has also interned for The Make-a-Wish Foundation of Illinois in the communications department. During her time there, she gained ample PR experience writing stories about wish kids, establishing a rapport with families and promoting the foundation to various media outlets.
On a personal note, Judith loves the world of sports, especially basketball. She indulged herself in the 2012 NBA Playoffs and covered the games on twitter and was often praised for her commentary. Her dream job would be to work in sports journalism covering the Chicago Bulls or the New York Knicks.
Judith ultimately wants to work in all mediums of media including print, online, television and radio. In addition, Judith aspires to start her own production company and Non-for-Profit in memory of her Uncle who passed away from cancer in 2011.
In her spare time, Judith also enjoys freelance modeling and hopes to be signed with an agency by the end of the summer. She has worked with artists like 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Twista and Jermih to name a few. Judith was also recently featured in glossmagazineonline.com as part of their "She's in Color" campaign created and launched by another Columbia Alum, Aaja Carr. A triple threat in the making, remember the name....
